Telangana Congress senior leader V Hanumantha Rao (VH) is coming up with his autobiography. The book titled ‘The Extraordinary Life and Times of V Hanumantha Rao’ will be released by former Loksabha Speaker Meira Kumar on October 26 in New Delhi. Senior journalist Krishna Kambalapally has penned it for VH. Now the interesting question is, ‘Will VH’s autobiography will be as enjoyable as his speeches and create any political fireworks in the present political climate?’
The 76-year-old V Hanumantha Rao is a old timer in Congress party and has earned a special place for himself in Telugu politics, with his Telangana slang. Hailing from BC community, VH rose through the ranks of Congress, eventually becoming APCC president and AICC secretary.
Besides holding important positions in Indian National Congress, VH also served as MLA and is a three-time Rajysabha MP. While that is about the political and official positions he held, another aspect of VH is, he moved close with late Rajiv Gandhi and is considered Gandhi family loyalist.
Being Gandhi family loyalist gave VH edge in Congress politics. He was been part of many key moments and decisions in Congress party, which eventually affected the course of Telugu politics.
Thus, VH had access to important information and developments, which others could not, owing to his political trajectory. If he narrates them honestly, then his autobiography will surely create political fireworks and controversial fodder for present day media and social media. Will VH’s autobiography do that? Or will it be just another autobiography of a leader, which is a mere chronicle of his career? We have to wait for another ten days to know.
