YSR Congress on Wednesday asked the TDP Government to make public its stand on special status and asserted that without special status the Partnership Summits would be nothing more than the self-promotion management event.
‘The union ministers have made it very clear that the special status and special package are not in the offing and the development indicators are weak despite the tall and false claims of Chandrababu Naidu,’ party leader Botsa Satyanrayana said.
Drawing attention to the three-day Partnership Summit held at Vizag, where 361 MoUs worth lakhs of crore rupees were signed, Botsa said,
these could not be grounded when the state was not accorded special status.
TDP, as a member of ruling NDA, should first put all efforts to achieve the special status, Botsa suggested.
“The investments and figures mentioned in the MoUs signed look hyperbolic. During Naidu’s previous term as well, as many as three partnership summits had been organized but not a single major industry came up. The present Partnership Summits also would not serve any purpose other than throwing limelight on Naidu,” he said.
Botsa said majority of the MoUs were signed with 20 companies in power sector (at an estimated cost of Rs 1.14 lakh crores to generate 17,000 MW) where the TDP entrepreneurs, son of Chief Minister and a cabinet minister have interests.
‘In this connection, Chiandrababu Naidu should tell what happened to the MoU he signed with a Chinese company during his recent visit to China for the generation of 9,000 MW. There was also a MoU for setting up 100 hotels with an investment of Rs 2,500 crores. Many of the Vizag MoU are not practicable and were singed just because the representatives of the companies happened to be present at the summit ’ he added.
Botsa demanded that the TDP government need to make its stand clear on special status and tell people what was the status of the issue.
