KTR Inaugurated World-Renowned Cricket Bat Maker Showroom
The world-renowned cricket bat maker Laver & Wood Cricket Bat store has been inaugurated by State IT Minister KT Rama Rao at Road No 2, Banjara Hills, on Monday.
By opening its maiden outlet in the country, Laver & Wood has thus made its Indian debut. The New Zealand company, made its India foray through Laver & India Private Limited, with its first franchise. The firm is famous for being the sole producer of handmade willows. International cricketers and the long list of its fan club including legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, West Indian Brian Lara and Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasurya have a wide appeal for the custom made Laver & Wood’s bats.
“We’re the only company worldwide now that makes a bat through all phases from the cleft to the finished product in whatever shape you want it,” says James Laver, whose family owns the company. “Each bat is handmade after customers provide details such as height, batting style, favourite shot, most common dismissal method, type of wicket played on,” he explains.
Mr.James Laver, Managing Director, in two decades of professional career had personally made nearly 30,000 cricket bats. “Each bat takes about four hours of labour and goes through a week-long process of curing, shaping, sanding and polishing,” says Laver.”
Akash Bhandari, Hyderabad Ranji all-rounder, who is the ambassador, said: “With a traditional approach to bat sculpting coupled with a never ending desire to establish ground breaking concepts, Laver & Wood has established itself as a leader in bats. The bats are made to cricketers’ specifications and every aspect like length and weight of the blade, length and shape of the handle are paid exclusive attention to offer the best willow to each cricketer.”
