Much to the annoyance of Nara Brahmani, who launched a mission to give coaching for students to crack the competitive examinations of Andhra Public Service Commission (APPSC), Andhra Pradesh government indirectly said there won’t be any recruitment in near future. Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu announced in the State Assembly that vacant posts would be filled up only after the financial position of the State improved. Would they improve at all?
Talking on the state finances, the FM said state was not in a position to bear more burden given the present financial commitments. Replying a question asked by TDP member Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and others during Question Hour, Ramakrishnudu said, ” there are vacancies in all the departments and they will be filled up only after the financial condition of the State improved.” The minister did not give any indication as to when the state finances would look up to start recruitment for various categories of posts
When asked about the number of vacancies available in different departments, the Finance Minister said he did not have the exact figures. “As of now I do not have the figures. But, vacant posts are there in all departments,” he added. Ramakrishnudu, however, informed the House that the permission had already been accorded for filling up of 12,179 vacant posts and some more vacant posts are under consideration for direct recruitment through APPSC, DSC and AP Police Recruitment Board. Ramakrishnudu said as of now about 9,000 employees were working on contract basis and another 6,000 were being outsourced in the State government.
In Andhra Pradesh lakhs of students have been waiting for notifications for the recruitment of government jobs. In the past eighteen months no attempt had been made to fill the vacancies through APPSC.
When Brahmani announced last month that NTR trust would give coaching for the students from poorer sections, everybody was confident that she must have been information about the filling up of various post in the government.
Now, it is certainly disheartening for Brahmani, who embarked on a noble mission to help the students who can’t afford coaching which has become expensive these days.
