YSR Congress Party (YCP) supremo and Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday in the national capital Delhi. In the discussion regarding the Presidential elections, Jagan confirmed that YCP will give fully support the candidate nominated by BJP. He also said “we have always supported BJP. We only default with BJP on the Special status subject. We also oppose them on the Land acquisition bill”.
Jagan said that it is unjust to keep a competition for reputable Presidential post and it is better to choose unanimously. The YCP chief said that BJP–NDA candidate will obviously win because they have the numbers and that there is no meaning in naming another candidate by the Opposition. He also added that “there is no need to have a discussion or meetings regarding Presidential post”. The opposition leader believes that instead of fighting over it, selecting one candidate will send out a good message to the people.
Several reports surfaced that Jagan was given appointment in lieu of the Presidential elections. With a grin on his face, the YCP leader rubbished these allegations.
He gave a letter to the Prime Minister and said to have raised issues concerning defections of MLAs, Corruption in the state, Agri Gold Scam, Chilli farmer woes and granting special category status.
