BJP senior leader BS Yeddyurappa is being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka in Bangalore today evening. In a day of fast-changing strategies, the BJP decided to take its immediate opportunity and establish its government first. Yeddyurappa will be sworn in alone with no ministers to take oath today. The BJP delegation has already met Governor Vajubhai Vala who is intimated about the party’s new stand.
The BJP national leadership was initially unwilling to immediately form the government as it would bring bad image. Yeddyurappa came forward to form the government the moment Kumaraswamy stepped out but the BJP national leaders did not give him the green signal at that time. But, the latest move of Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar to disqualify 3 rebel MLAs forced the BJP to act quickly.
Without losing further time, the BJP okayed Yeddyurappa’s candidature and staked the claim to form the government. Governor Vajubhaiwala has also given his approval to Yeddyurappa for the government formation today itself. The Governor has given a week’s time for him to prove his majority in the Assembly. The BJP is expected to prove its majority in the Legislative Council first in three to four days.
