Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today silenced the opposition criticism of Governor’s address to the joint session of Assembly and Legislative Council in his inimitable style. He said he was unhappy that nothing new in the form suggestions came from the opposition in the debate on the Governor’s address. “Twelve speakers participated in the debate. All spoke same thing. What Congress member G Chinna Reddy spoke was reiterated 70 per cent by his colleague T Jeevan Reddy. Even Akabaruddin also did not give any suggestion to improve upon what is being done. I am pained to say that the speeches in Assembly have become too stereotype,” the CM said.
The CM nonplussed the opposition by admitting 100 per cent with the criticism of opposition. The opposition members, reacting on the Governor’s address, alleged that the Governor had read out the TRS manifesto. The address offered nothing new beyond what was said in the 2014 election manifesto of the Telanrana Rashtra Samiti.
The CM said they were right but ignorant in that they were not able to understand the meaning of governor’s address.
“Yes, governor did read out the manifesto of TRS. His speech should echo the contents of TRS manifesto. The governor’s speech was a script of the government. The speech was written by the government and approved by the cabinet. The governor is not supposed to deviate from the government script. This is democratic. If Governor doesn’t read the government’s script it would be undemocratic,” he asserted.
He further said the TRS had gone to the elections with a manifesto and came to power on the basis of that manifesto. ” It is incumbent upon the government to implement the manifesto in letter and in spirit. So, the address governor is nothing but the script of the government and echoes the election manifesto of TRS,” the CM said.
CM said this while responding to the debate on the governor’s address on Sunday.
