Foreign ideas, foreign companies and foreign cities is the summary of Andhra Pradesh capital Amaravati. You name a city, call it smart city or digital city, Andhra Pradesh government will send teams of officers and minister to visit it in the name of studying best practices and incorporate the ideas they grasp during their tour into the construction of Amaravati. Dozens officers, ministers and chief minister visited the cities desi and videsi to study the city planning. The final design is prepared a Singapore company.
Andhra officers are now touring in three continents Latin America, Europe and Asia. Chief minister Naidu’s teams have left for their destinations in batches. Now municipal administrative minister P Narayana is also embarking on global study tour to ‘modern cities of Vienna (Austria), Astana(Kazakhstan), Ashgabhat(Turkmenistan) from 29.10.2015 to 07.11.2015 on Official Visit to study the best practices of Modern cities regarding planning, design, construction and maintenance. Government orders say the minister has stated that he intends to visit these cities and ” after careful examination’ the government accorded permission Ponguru Narayana. Already half a dozen teams are visiting these cities now as minister of urban planning, P Narayana will join them.
These expensive tours are taking place at a time when state recorded fall in the revenue collection. On Monday while reviewing the finance department performance, chief minister Naidu asked the officials step up their efforts to get the Rs 12,000 crore grant promised for bridging the gap last year. He also instructed officials to get the Rs 2030 crore spent on Polavaram reimbursed.
