A significant development has emerged in former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case as his daughter Sunitha filed a petition in the Telangana High Court. In her petition, Sunitha named the CBI as a respondent and requested the court to order daily hearings of her father’s murder case in the CBI court.
While presenting her case, Sunitha’s lawyer argued that despite nearly four years of investigation, the case has shown little progress. The murder occurred on March 14, 2019, after which the CBI took over the investigation and filed two chargesheets. Sunitha has requested the court to direct the CBI to complete the trial within six months.
The lawyer explained to the court that CBI officials provided some documents to the defense lawyers on hard drives. However, these files couldn’t be opened, prompting defense lawyers to request printed copies. With documents running into lakhs of pages, providing printed copies has become impractical, leading to a 15-month delay in proceedings.
Interestingly, Sunitha has named all the accused in her father’s murder case as respondents in her petition. The special bench hearing the case has granted Sunitha’s lawyer permission to issue individual notices to all respondents, including the CBI. The next hearing has been postponed by four weeks.
