YSR Congress today took strong objection to raising funds from students in the name of construction of capital Amaravati.
Condemning the issuance of circular to District Educational Officers (DEO) across the state government, the party’s senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana said it was an attempt cover up the extravagant spending by the state government, especially chief minister Naidu. ” He (the CM) diluted the fee reimbursement and is now resorting to collection of donations from students,” he criticized.
According to reports, a circular had been issued to DEOs to collect donation from all students and teachers not less than Rs 10 for the capital construction. He said it was is ridiculous on part of the government to collect donations from the students while wasting so much money on activities that suit his fancies.
‘The state, on its part, has never observed austerity measures. The CM has been on the spree of extravagant lifestyle by using chartered fights and spending huge amounts on unproductive activities. This apart, corruption has become rampant due to the defective policies,” he said.
“The state has increased the price of sand ten times but when the hike did not reflect in the revenue, the government said that there was misappropriation of revenue and went back to the old system,” he said.
He demanded that the status of the assurances given in the previous phases of Janmabhoomi be placed in public domain and stop collecting money from students and teachers for Amaravati construction.
He felt that government could save huge money if chief minister Naidu stops splurging money of renovation offices, building temporary secretaraits and using helicopters and flight at the snap of the finger.
