Amid the talk that many more MLAs are likely to cross over to Telugu Desam party, opposition YSR party has decided to observe Save Democracy program across the state next week. This was decided in a meeting party president Jaganmohan Reddy had with senior party leaders, MPs and MLAs this afternoon. The protest program is aimed at chief minister chandrababu Naidu, who, the party alleges is encourage defection from YSRCP.
The party will organize candle vigil in all district headquarters on April 25 against chief minister as “Save Democracy Day”. The party alleged that the CM had stooped too low in luring the MLAs from the opposition YSRCP with money and government positions. Similarly, all the MPs, MLAs, MLC as well as senior leaders from the party will complain to president Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the chief election commissioner on what it called the unethical practices of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. The team will be led by YS Jaganmohan Reddy and appraise the prime minister of the gaps in the Anti-defection law which is helping the defector MLAs to leave the party with impunity.
The meeting also finalized a drought action plan. Protesting the government all-round failure in the gearing up to meet the challenges of drought, the party will organize empty pot demonstration in all districts across the state. Party senior leaders KP Partha Sarathi and Ananta Venkatrama Reddy briefed he media after meeting.
Meanwhile, two YSRC leaders denied reports about their possible switch over to ruling Telugu Desam party.
Former minister and YSRCP leader Balineni Srinivas Reddy dismissed the reports that he was planning to switch over the Telugu Desam party. He told media that rumors were malicious and mischief of Telugu Desam party. Refuting that he was in touch with TDP mediators, Balineni said he had quit Congress when I was a minister to join Jagan. Where is question now joining the Telugu Desam party?, he asked. According to media reports, Balineni, who has not been active for quite some time, has been offered MLC nomination by the TDP leadership. However, he said he would continue to sail with Jagan. Simiarly, Giddalur MLA Ashok Reddy also made it clear that they were not leaving the YSRCP.
