The Opposition YSR Congress today alleged that TDP government was initiating steps to wrest all assigned lands in Amaravati capital region by amending the Act that prohibits sale of the lands assigned to dalits, adivasis and other weaker sections.
The party said the government was resorting to this step only to give away the lands to the rich of the ruling party. The TDP, the opposition party charged, doesn’t want the poor and marginalized section possess lands in the capital region.
‘There are about 2080 acres of assigned lands in and around the capital region. If the Act is amended, the TDP leaders would force these poor to sell the lands to them. To make this forcible transaction appear legal, the government is attempting to amend the Act,” party spokesperson Tammineni Sitaram told reporters here on Saturday.
During elections, Chandrabau Naidu had promised to provide land and irrigation facility to the weaker sections but after assuming power he wants to rob them of their lands, he said.
He said the policies of chief minister Chandrabu Naidu were reminiscent of the activities of East India company.
‘Chandrababu Naidu has already given away large extent of lands to Galla Jaidev, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s relative and others at Vizag, Tirupati and in Krishna district and this could be a prelude to what is in store,” Sitaram said adding that the YSRCP would strongly oppose the proposed legislation and fight against it.
