YSR Congress Party today accused that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu are working in tandem to pursue their personal agenda at the cost of the state interests, thus burying the Special Category Status (SCS).
Party senior leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy ridiculed that Chief Minister has totally surrendered to the Centre after the cash for vote and Union Minister has been coming to the rescue of Chief Minister. He recalled that recently Venkaiah Naidu in an interview has openly declared that he has been safeguarding Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu while the opposition party in the state has been raising unnecessary issues, which shows that the two- have a secret agenda and wanted to put SCS to rest.
He alleged that the very fact that there was no mention about SCS in the Union Budget and there was no reaction from TDP leadership is an indication that Chandrababu Naidu has surrendered after the cash for vote case and Venkaiah Naidu has brokered peace. “Terms for the truce at the cost of the state interests which include foregoing the demand for SCS”, he added.
However, Bhumana made it clear that they will not allow the SCS issue to die down and will fight for it. He deplored that these two leaders are conveniently trying to subvert it and bring to the fore Special package which is nothing but bouquet of sops already included in the State division Act and wanted the people to believe that it a substitute for SCS. But, Reddy said that no one is prepared to accept.
He questioned the claims of the Chief Minister that MoUs were signed for Rs 10.5 lakh crores of investments and during the previous yea Rs 4.65 lakh core investments have come in. Then, he asked why the unemployment is still on the rise and no stipend is being paid and none of parameters for development and increased standard of living has been visible.
