Hyderabad: At a time when Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is gearing up to make a return gift to Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, YSRCP leaders and cadres turn wary of the possible negative impact of associating with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). YSRCP cadres fear that the party might face similar jolt that was received by Congress in Telangana.
“Andhraites are against state bifurcation and how can they accept the friendship with TRS,” questions a senior YSRCP leader.
It may be recalled that KCR has commissioned independent surveys finding the pulse of Andhraites about the recent meeting between KTR and YS Jaganmohan Reddy. KCR wants to know what Andhraites think about the alliance of YSRCP with TRS.
Meanwhile, some YSRCP leaders come in rescue of party high command’s inclination towards TRS, by recalling the Chandrababu Naidu’s remarks. Before Assembly elections in Telangana, Naidu extended his hand of friendship to KCR, who denied the proposal. Naidu during the election campaign himself stated several times that “I wanted to work with Telangana government by making an alliance with TRS. I told KCR that if we work together, it’ll benefit both the Telugu states. But, KCR denied my proposal.”
On the other hand, speculation is rife over KCR’s AP tour in February. YS Jagan has reportedly invited KCR to his house warming ceremony along with the inauguration of party’s new office at Undavalli on February 14. However, party cadres opine that there’s no need of inviting KCR to this function at this juncture. Few YSRCP leaders also predict that the KCR’s tour may get postponed. Because, such events may keep neutral voters away from the party, they said.
TDP is also facing a different situation as its leaders and cadres raised voice against the alliance with Congress, which has bifurcated united AP, is facing ire of Andhra voters. “Congress didn’t even award Special Category Status to AP, while creating Telangana state. Andhraites are still against Congress. So, it’s better for TDP to go alone in the forthcoming elections,” adds another TDP leader.
