TDP should stop stretching Roja’s suspension into a lifetime. They should realize that it is time to let go and move on. TDP MLA V Anitha has become a popular face for constantly seeking apology. The Dalit Payakaraopet MLA complained to the Speaker a year ago that YCP MLA Roja had humiliated her with derogatory comments.
The four-member panel about Roja’s suspension is headed by G Suryarao comprised all TDP members, including actor-politician N Balakrishna. The committee summoned Roja thrice to appear but she did not. The leader whose suspension was to be discussed in the assembly was absent. Apart from serious issues like Polavaram and Special Category status, the TDP leaders wanted to discuss Roja’s suspension in the assembly.
Roja is known for many things both good and mostly bad while the sole ambition of TDP leaders seems to be demanding apologies from her or suspending her. Even the law states that no person should be punished for the same event twice.
Roja is not only the first MLA in the legislative history both in the state and the country, to be suspended for an entire year from the state Assembly, but also to be reprimand twice for same mistake. The feminist Chief Minister seems to be helping Roja bag such records.
This high-handed behavior is just elevating the position of Roja. The ruling party leaders should should stop playing the victim card to the circumstances they created.
There are innumerable times the Nagari MLA mocked or belittled people but even the TDP leaders do so. Everyone has witnessed how J C Prabhakar reddy spoke recently and using unparliamentarily words is nothing new for the TDP politicians either.
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly and YSRCP president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy made it clear that any disciplinary action initiated against Roja would be challenged in court
