The YSR Congress Party, who almost disappeared in Telangana state after its lone MP and three MLAs have defected in to ruling TRS, now the party is making moves to makes its presence felt. Sensing large scale migration of party workers at gross-root level to the ruling party, even YS Sharmila had suspended her `vodarpu yatra’, which was completed only in erstwhile Khammam and Nalgonda district, besides covering Warangal district.
Telangana unit president G Srikanth Reddy, who is till now restricting himself to media outlets, for the first time making moves for a state level even on farmer’s issue. He announced that the party would organize protests across the state on December 2 demanding release of water for the second crop in the state.
He deplored that the farmers are facing severe hardships due to lack of water for their crop. He demanded the government to release water for the second crop. He said that party units in districts will stage protests, Maha Dharna, to mount pressure on the government to ease out farmers’ issues.
On the issue of demonetization, the YSRCP leader that his party welcomed the Centre’s move aimed at fighting black money but said that the policy should be properly implemented. He said that the farmers, poor and the middle class are bearing the brunt of demonetization. He said that the Centre should ensure that enough currency in smaller demonization is available at banks and ATMs so that the common people are subjected to difficulties.
