Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government will call an Assembly winter session on September 8 to pass the Constitution Amendment Bill on Goods and Service Tax (GST).
The opposition YSRCP and the Congress parties are demanding that the session should be conducted at least three to four weeks. Business Advisory Committee (BAC), which will hold a meeting on September 8, will take a decision on the number of days that the session should run considering the passage of bills and issues that are to be discussed in the House.
The YSRCP is carving out strategies to corner the AP government over the delay of special status for the State, execution of Krishna Pushkaralu and the controversial issue of Swiss Challenge to develop Amaravati.
The Hyderabad police are learnt to have written a letter requesting the AP government to ensure that the dates of Assembly session are not coinciding with the final immersion day of the Ganesh festival that is falling on September 14.
The Hyderabad police will take care of the security arrangements outside the Assembly, while the AP police will look into the security arrangements in the Assembly premises.
