YSR Congress Party has demanded a probe into the growing number of suicides in the private educational institutions in the state and the reasons for the social disorder.
As the heads of the institutions have been very close to Chandrababu Naidu, party MLA G Srikanth Reddy deplored that though students are committing suicides on a regular basis the reason has not been probed yet.
He expressed concern that the corporatization of education sector has hit the system very badly and people running a chain of institutions have a secured place in the cabinet, who are benamis of Chandrababu Naidu which is why no action has been taken so far on the institutions.
He alleged that efforts are being made to promote these institutions and the government schools are being shut down to benefit them. The government policies are purely in favour of the private institutions.
Srikanth Reddy said that the frustration of students and parents who are being harassed by corporate colleges is evident from the parents who committed suicide in Guntur. Student organizations should give a serious thought on the issue and seek explanation from the government, he added.
Chandrababu Naidu claiming that 80 % of the people are happy in the state is nothing but self-boasting as not even 1 % of the people are happy. Only those who curry favour from the government are happy with the contracts and kickbacks, he added.
Srikanth Reddy said that Chandrababu Naidu has no idea of Nobel Prize going by his remarks at the Science Congress and people who are facing serious charges were given prominence at the grand event. “We will work for the betterment of the education system and demand that a probe should be ordered into the growing suicides in the corporate colleges”, he added.
