One of the famous Kapu leaders in Andhra Pradesh, Buragadda Veda Vyas, former Deputy Speaker, is all set to leave the YSR Congress Party to join the ruling Telugu Desam, according to reliable sources.
A politician, known for changing parties at his will, Veda Vyas reportedly made peace with all forces that prevented him from wearing yellow shirt so far. In fact, Veda Vyas had joined Jaganmohan Reddy’s party just before the 2014 elections and unsuccessfully contested from Pedana constituency. He was defeated by Kagita Venkata Rao of Telugu Desam.
Veda Vyas was reportedly among many YSRCP leaders to join the ruling party but Kagita Venkat Rao obviously blocked his entry. However, the YSRCP’s electoral success in Pedana Municipal elections reportedly forced Rao to give in. Veda Vyas, the Deputy Speaker during the Congress rule, was the first to join Mega Star Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam. He had fought the election from Machilipatnam on Praja Rajyam ticket but faced humiliating defeat.
As Praja Rajyam turned out to be a political hoax, Veda Vyas joined YSRCP and contested elections on the party ticket. Despite this, TDP leadership, which needs Kapu strong leaders to face Mudragada Padmanabham, gave green signal to him this week. “It is a win-win situation. Veda Vyas and his supporters are going to join in TDP in a couple of days,” a source said.
